StarForce ProActive for Business supports the following software protection modes:

Disc Only
Software is distributed on optical discs and will run whenever a protected disk is inserted into an optical drive. In this mode the protected software is bound to the disk it is distributed on.
Physical media + Activation
Software is distributed using any physical media but will not run unless it is activated online. In this mode a physical medium can function as a secondary distribution tool when it is passed to new users who must activate the software for themselves or run it in trial mode prior to activation. An optional security feature allows to bind the software installer to an optical medium and the application to computer hardware configuration. This adds another layer of protection from illegal distribution to the software installer since the application will not install without a licensed installation disk in the optical drive.
