StarForce to Introduce New Universal Software Protection Platform
StarForce, a recognized leader in software protection and licensing technologies, announces the forthcoming release of StarForce Protection Studio, a new universal software protection platform designed for software developers and publishers to more efficiently manage and control all protection projects in a single multifunctional solution.
StarForce’s CEO, Michael Kalinichenko comments, “The decision to develop Protection Studio was inspired by our research results. We performed a comprehensive study of market demands and trends, and conducted a number of surveys among our existing clients. The study unveiled a strong client need for a flexible system combining both licensing and protection features. With the advent of new market and sales channels, the need for an effective tool to shorten product release time and control resources was obvious. StarForce Protection Studio is a unified control center, providing effective tools to streamline the protection implementation process and assist responsible managers to reduce expenses, both time and financial.
“A company’s business and product specifics should be a key criterion when choosing a particular protection strategy. The protection implementation process consists of several steps requiring knowledge and experience in technical aspects as well as commercial ones. Thus, often the stages of the entire process are shared between several responsible people within the project group”, says Oleg Salyakhov, Technical Director of StarForce. “The architecture of the Protection Studio is designed to help organize the protection application workflow in the most convenient way and provides advanced tools to coordinate different phases of it.”
StarForce Protection Studio is targeted to cover the requirements of various consumer groups, including developers and publishers of PC games and educational software typically shipped on optical media, business software providers, who deliver their software via the Internet, and special-needs software developers who release their applications in small batches. In addition to these traditional client groups, StarForce’s target audience now includes software distributors and internet-shops.
According to the developers, StarForce Protection Studio is more than a copy protection system. The product includes protection, activation and licensing technologies combined into a single solution. A customer selects a solution matching the company’s specific needs. The solutions include ProActive (license distribution control, product activation and licensing system), Professional and Basic for industrial batches of CD/DVD-ROMs, and StarForce CD-R to protect software produced for just-in-time distribution.
Along with product use control features, the protection provides a wide range of business development opportunities. Activation and licensing technologies provide additional marketing possibilities, including market demand research, client activity statistics, license distribution control, promotion and much more.
The product’s commercial release is scheduled for January 20, 2005. Till that time the product is being certified and approved by the company’s international partners and distributors.
