10th Mobile Games Forum is ended

Mobile Games Forum UKOn the 24th of January, 2013 10th international conference Mobile Games Forum was ended in London. Protection Technology Research (PTR) representatives took part in the event.

In 2011 PTR has became Skolkovo Foundation resident and in 2012 got soft money for developing of mobile applications and content protection service against crack, illegal distribution and leakage. Developing product has received StarForce Mobile name. PTR specialists attended several international mobile software shows to be able to create product that maximum suits the market needs.

This time PTR precisely looked on mobile games niche. According to comScope Europes’s product manager Hesham Al-Jehani, there are Android and Apple which dominates the European market, 59% comes to Android, 22% to Apple, while 8% occupies by Windows phone. 33% of all money within mobile software and content industry rises from game sector. 50% of this money amount hits Apple’s pocket. Right holders mostly use Freemiun monetization model, while 96% of mobile gamers never pay. 16% of all smartphones holders obtained tablet. There are 27 mln. tablets in Europe and 16 mln. of them (60%) are iPads.

Peter Warman, Newzoo CEO underlined the increasing importance of MultiScreen policy while developing and operating mobile games. This means that developer should support as more different screen sizes (devices) as possible to be able to earn good money. In the morning, while having breakfast, man could play on a tablet or TV, being on his way to work uses smartphone, and PC in the office. As much time he spends for game as much possibility he is converted to paid person.

Companies specialists had took part in “How to be a Fruit Ninja or an Angry Bird” panel discussion indicated highly increased games quality requirements. Only excellent polished games may become popular in high-competitive environment.

During personal meeting in event’s lobby attendees had indicated that piracy is still a head ache. Developers and publishers had pointed out that they received less due to this issue.

At the same time there were interesting thoughts came from in-game advertisement sector. According to several specialists, hackers remove ad modules from games and upload the “clean” distributive to the internet. Ad networks representatives believed that game source code obfuscation is able to level the problem.

Now StarForce is in phase of development of mobile applications obfuscation technology that will be soon accessible for evaluation for every interested companies.
