Silent Hunter 3 - among top 5 one year after the release!

08.02.2006

While the biggest players of the video game market are still counting the last year’s revenue, the 2006 statistics are already in.

The latest researches show that the experts’ forecast about the growth of the console market are not coming true. This segment is obviously stagnating while waiting for a new technological breakthrough. The 2005 gross of the US largest publisher Electronic Arts is not rather encouraging as well. The forth quarter income turned out to bring 31% less than the same period in 2004. The company’s total sales reduced by 11%.

Meanwhile the PC sales continue to grow steadily. The European publishers feel far more confident than their overseas counterparts.

The sales rating of Silent Hunter 3 is the most surprising. The game was officaially released a year ago and is still in the Russia’s top 5 sales list in spite of the notorious Russian piracy. There is a good tendency for games that use StarForce copy protection to have a longer and better sales cycle.
