Boonty beefs up DRM security; adds StarForce compatibility

NEW YORK, NY, June 23, 2005 -- In a move to make its platform available to the widest selection of game developers and publishers, Boonty Inc., a global leader in the downloadable games business, has recently added StarForce compatibility to its security offering. With the latest update to BoontySecure™, the company now supports the most popular security solutions in the industry.

BoontySecure™, the DRM solution from Boonty, is a common layer for backend and payment integration with a singular and unique user interface. For the security layers, BoontySecure uses SafeCast from Macrovision and now StarForce.

StarForce’s ProActive security solution has been adopted by numerous game developers and publishers. An efficient solution, StarForce technology allows publishers to safely utilize the Internet as a distribution platform, while preventing illegal product usage and providing control over product license generation and distribution. The technology does not require any disc keys or dongles to launch and activate licensed software, and is transparent for the end user. ProActive supports various distribution models, including Boonty’s try-before-you-buy - limiting the trial period, while maximizing sell-thru potential. Upon the expiration of the trial period, the program will run only if the license is purchased.

According to Romain Nouzareth, Boonty CEO, “A shift has been made lately in DRM for games. Most of games publishers are willing to use different DRM systems. As not a single company will have 100% of the market it was thus a prerequisite for Boonty to propose a unique and single solution for our distribution partners and their clients.” explained Nouzareth.
